Our Approach

Finances can be stressful. Guidance shouldn’t be.

When it comes to capital decisions, most people do not need market commentary or industry jargon. They need clear judgment, a disciplined process, and an advisor whose incentives are aligned with their own.

At Ridge and Republic, our approach is built around thoughtful risk management and deliberate decision-making. The goal is not activity for its own sake, but clarity around where you stand, what matters, and how best to allocate capital under uncertainty.

Several principles guide all of our work.

  1. Fiduciary First. Client interests come first, without exception. Advice is provided independently and in accordance with fiduciary duty.
  2. Process Over Prediction. We do not rely on short-term forecasts or market narratives. Decisions are made using structured analysis, probability, and an understanding of risk and tradeoffs.
  3. Clarity Over Complexity. Recommendations are explained plainly. You will understand the reasoning, assumptions, and constraints behind each decision.
  4. Transparency by Design. Fees, scope, and responsibilities are clearly disclosed in advisory agreements and the firm’s ADV. There are no hidden incentives or product-based compensation.
  5. Stewardship, Not Sales. Our role is to guide capital responsibly, manage risk thoughtfully, and support sound decision-making over time—not to promote products or strategies.

This is the core of Ridge and Republic: calm, disciplined guidance designed to help clients make confident financial decisions in a complex and uncertain environment.

For all services, we may use third-party tools or questionnaires, such as those provided by Vanguard, to help assess risk tolerance and inform planning and portfolio decisions.

Clients who begin with a stand-alone planning engagement may be eligible for a planning-to-advisory credit if they later enter into an ongoing advisory or portfolio management relationship. Full details are outlined in the advisory agreement and ADV.

What we offer

Financial Consultation Services: Guidance for Specific Decisions

Not every financial question requires a comprehensive financial plan.

For clients seeking professional guidance on a specific financial decision or limited area of concern, Ridge & Republic offers Financial Consultation Services on an ad hoc basis. These engagements are designed to provide objective, fiduciary guidance for important financial decisions while remaining appropriately limited in scope.

Consultations are tailored to the client's specific question and are based on the information available at the time of the engagement.

Examples may include:

  • Retirement readiness and timing considerations
  • Portfolio allocation and risk review
  • Roth conversion analysis
  • Employer retirement plan decisions
  • Cash flow and liquidity questions
  • Major purchase or financing decisions
  • Distribution and withdrawal considerations
  • General financial planning consultations

Each consultation concludes with a discussion of observations, potential risks, planning considerations, tradeoffs, and practical next steps based on the client's stated objectives.

These engagements are intended to provide clarity around a specific decision rather than serve as a comprehensive financial plan or ongoing advisory relationship. Clients who require broader analysis or continuing guidance may choose to engage the firm for comprehensive Financial Planning, Ongoing Advisory Services, or Portfolio Management, as appropriate.

Comprehensive Financial Planning: Support For Life's Major Financial Decisions

A comprehensive planning engagement designed to help individuals and families make informed financial decisions with confidence. This service is intended for clients seeking an integrated evaluation of their financial situation, where retirement, investments, taxes, risk management, cash flow, and long-term objectives are considered together rather than in isolation.

Planning engagements are tailored to each client's circumstances and may include:

  • Retirement income and distribution planning
  • Retirement readiness analysis
  • Social Security claiming considerations
  • Roth conversion analysis and tax-aware planning
  • Withdrawal sequencing and cash flow strategy
  • Portfolio review, asset allocation, and investment strategy
  • Risk tolerance and portfolio stress analysis
  • Insurance and risk-transfer review
  • Debt structure and balance-sheet analysis
  • Estate and beneficiary coordination
  • Education funding analysis, where appropriate
  • Ongoing planning recommendations for significant life transitions

Each engagement is supported by structured financial analysis and professional planning tools to evaluate multiple scenarios, identify tradeoffs, and prioritize opportunities based on the client's goals and risk profile.

The result is not simply a financial plan, but a practical decision-making framework with clear recommendations and prioritized action items designed to help clients move forward with confidence while understanding both opportunities and potential risks.

Ongoing Advisory & Planning Support — Stewardship Without Delegation

Ongoing Advisory & Planning Support — Stewardship Without Delegation

Not everyone wants to delegate investment decisions. Many individuals prefer to retain direct control over their assets while having an experienced fiduciary available to help evaluate important financial decisions as life unfolds.

This ongoing advisory relationship is designed for clients who value continuous professional judgment, accountability, and thoughtful oversight without granting discretionary authority over their accounts.

Rather than focusing solely on investments, this service provides ongoing guidance across the broader financial picture as circumstances, markets, tax laws, and personal objectives evolve.

Services may include:

  • Ongoing review of financial decisions and planning opportunities
  • Periodic reassessment of goals, assumptions, and retirement projections
  • Guidance through significant life events and financial transitions
  • Retirement income planning and distribution strategy
  • Tax-aware planning considerations, including Roth conversion opportunities
  • Portfolio allocation and risk discussions while the client maintains investment control
  • Coordination with attorneys, accountants, and other professionals, as appropriate
  • Accountability and support implementing agreed-upon planning recommendations

This service is well suited for individuals who value independent financial decision-making but appreciate having a trusted fiduciary serving as an ongoing thought partner. Clients retain full control over their assets while benefiting from continuous planning oversight, objective advice, and disciplined guidance as new opportunities and challenges arise.

Comprehensive Investment Management & Implementation

Ongoing Advisory & Planning Support — Stewardship Without Delegation

For clients who prefer to delegate day-to-day investment decisions, Ridge and Republic provides discretionary portfolio management grounded in fiduciary responsibility, disciplined risk management, and long-term capital stewardship.

This service combines ongoing financial planning with professional investment management. Rather than asking clients to monitor markets, evaluate investments, or rebalance portfolios themselves, Ridge and Republic assumes discretionary authority to implement and maintain an investment strategy aligned with the client's objectives, financial circumstances, retirement goals, and risk tolerance.

Each relationship is governed by a written Investment Policy Statement (IPS) that establishes investment objectives, asset allocation targets, rebalancing parameters, liquidity needs, and risk guidelines. The IPS serves as the long-term framework for portfolio management, providing discipline and consistency through changing market conditions.

Services may include:

  • Comprehensive portfolio design and strategic asset allocation
  • Development and ongoing maintenance of an Investment Policy Statement
  • Ongoing portfolio monitoring, disciplined rebalancing, and implementation
  • Tax-aware portfolio management, where appropriate
  • Diversified implementation using equities, ETFs, fixed income, real assets, and other appropriate investments
  • Cash management and withdrawal coordination, where applicable
  • Coordination of portfolio decisions with retirement income strategies, tax planning, and broader financial objectives
  • Ongoing review of investment strategy as client circumstances and goals evolve

Portfolio Management is provided as part of an integrated advisory relationship. Before assuming discretionary authority, Ridge and Republic develops a comprehensive understanding of the client's financial circumstances, retirement objectives, risk tolerance, tax considerations, and other planning factors. This planning-first approach helps ensure that investment decisions remain aligned with the client's broader financial goals.

Where appropriate, the firm may utilize institutional or third-party model portfolios as part of the implementation process. Any associated embedded costs are absorbed by Ridge & Republic and are not passed through to clients, as disclosed in the advisory agreement and Form ADV.

This service is designed for clients who value the convenience of professional investment management while maintaining an ongoing relationship with a fiduciary focused on long-term planning, thoughtful risk management, and disciplined decision-making. The objective is not to predict short-term market movements, but to implement and maintain an investment strategy that supports the client's financial goals across changing market environments through consistent, evidence-based stewardship.
